I hate to tell you this, but those are not German pancakes. German pancakes are like crepes; which is the way most of Europe makes their pancakes; except rolled up with butter, sugar, and a few drops of lemon juice.

If you mean that recipe, I can give it to you. Or here is a potato pancake recipe that is normally served with meat:

Potato Pancakes

Serves 4 to 6

4 large russet potatoes, peeled

1/4 small white onion, finely grated

2 large eggs, lightly beaten

1/4 cup beer

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon coarse salt, or to taste

Freshly ground pepper

Vegetable oil, for frying

Applesauce, for serving

Sour cream, for serving (optional)

1. Grate potatoes in long strips, using smooth strokes to run the potatoes across the grater into a large bowl of cold water. Drain potatoes well, reserving liquid, and transfer to a second bowl.

2. Set reserved liquid aside for 10 minutes to allow the starch to sink to the bottom of the bowl. Carefully pour the liquid from the bowl, reserving the milky residue (potato starch), and discard. Transfer potatoes back to bowl with potato starch.

3. Add onion to the bowl with potatoes. Stir in eggs, beer, flour, salt, and pepper.

4. Preheat the oven to 200掳. Line a baking sheet with paper towels; set aside. In a heavy skillet, heat 1/2-inch of oil. Spoon 1/2 cup of potato mixture per pancake into skillet. Make a few at a time and do not crowd them in the skillet.

5. Fry on both sides until golden brown, 4 to 6 minutes. Transfer to prepared baking sheet to drain. Keep warm in oven while preparing the others. Serve hot with applesauce, and/or sour cream, if desired.Need a real german recipes for potato pancakes?
I am not at all German; but I did live there for several years. I am English; but we are also meat and potato lovers. The recipe is not Irish either, as the Irish make patties out of their mash and fry them up. It is a German recipe for potato pancakes to serve with meat. . Report Abuse

Peel 3 large potatoes (about 2 lbs) and cut into pieces to fit into a food processor chute. Grate in a food processor.

Put grated potatoes in a colander in the sink, and press on them hard to squeeze out as much liquid as you can.

Peel 1 small onion and cut into quarters. Grate in a food processor.

Mix grated potatoes, onion, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of flour, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper.

Put 2 tbsps of oil in each frying pan. Heat pans over medium-high heat for several minutes. Don't put them on high heat - you want to use the same heat setting that you'll use for frying (and this really depends on your burners, some are stronger then others). To check if the oil is heated, drop a tiny bit of potato mixture in the oil - when it starts making some noise pretty aggressively, the oil is hot enough!

Form potato mixture into patties (make them as thin as possible) and put in frying pans (you should have approximately 4 good-sized patties in each). Leave for 3 minutes (or until brown). Flip them to the other side, reduce heat to medium and leave for 4 minutes.

Try one piece of pancake to make sure it's cooked through. If not, you can leave them for another few minutes on low heat.
